Another month, flipside software update for the Meta Quest VR headset. Update v46 introduces a variety of improvements to Quest hardware. This includes spare privacy settings as well as a new way to wangle your recent apps.
However, the real excitement is virtually the new Lord of the Rings-inspired Horizon Home. For those out of the loop, Horizon Home serves as a personal space where Quest users can scan the Quest Store, retread their settings, launch games and apps, and more.
The Quest currently features a handful of variegated Home environments to segregate from. This includes everything from a cozy ski lodge and zen garden to an out-of-this-world space station and cyberpunk living room.
Now it appears as though we can add the legendary municipality of Khazad-dûmc to that list. Beginning October 10th, you can log in to your Quest headset to find a Home environment inspired by the new Amazon Prime show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. According to Meta, this new Home environment will only be misogynist for a limited time, so you’ll need to move quickly.
Update v46 introduces new privacy settings as well. After installing the new update, you’ll be asked to personize a few vital privacy settings (who can see you’re online, what you’re playing, etc.). You’ll moreover now be worldly-wise to retread these settings for individual apps.
The search tool has moreover received some love in the form of optimized search results. Anything you’ve searched for previously will moreover towards higher up in the results.
Last but not least, the v46 update makes it easier to wangle your favorite games and apps. Your Quest’s dock will now full-length your three most recent apps, remoter streamlining app navigation on Quest.
